PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated: June 7, 2026
Official Intelligence ("we," "us," "our") makes games and experiments, including TANTЯO and Circuitousness. This policy explains what we collect and how we use it across our website (official-intelligence.art), our games, and our related back-end services (together, the "Services") — including when a game is installed from an app store. It does not cover third-party platforms that also host our games (for example itch.io or Google Play), which have their own privacy policies.
Information We Collect
Account information. You can play without an account. If you create one or sign in, we collect your email address and a username, and either a securely hashed password or, if you use "Continue with Google" (or GitHub), the account identifier, email, and basic profile name those providers share with us.
Gameplay & leaderboard data. When you submit a score we store the name you enter (you may submit as "Anonymous"), your scores, times, hints used, and a recording of your moves so the run can be replayed. Leaderboard names and replays for top-ranked runs are publicly visible to other players.
Usage & device data. We record how the Services are used — games and pages visited, the referring page, your browser and device type (user-agent), and in-game actions such as starting, finishing, or sharing. Our servers and hosting providers also process your IP address (for example to operate leaderboards, prevent abuse, and rate-limit requests). We do not track activity on localhost/development builds.
Diagnostics. If an error occurs, signed-in players' apps may send us a crash report containing the error details, the page URL, and browser information so we can fix bugs.
On your device. We use your browser's local storage and session storage to remember settings (such as audio preferences, your last-entered player name, and puzzle progress) and to keep you signed in. This is first-party storage on your device and is not used for advertising.
How We Use Information
- Operate and improve the games, the website, and leaderboards & replays;
- Create and manage accounts and keep you signed in;
- Send transactional emails you request, such as password resets;
- Understand aggregate, anonymous usage to keep improving the Services;
- Protect the Services — anti-cheat, abuse prevention, security, and rate-limiting.
How Information Is Shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help us run the Services, each under its own privacy policy:
- Google — account sign-in (OAuth) and Google Fonts;
- GitHub — optional sign-in, and delivery of game assets such as music and images;
- Render — hosting for our back-end/API servers;
- Netlify — hosting for our website and games;
- Cloudinary — image hosting.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights, users, or the security of the Services. Leaderboard names and replays you submit are shown publicly, as described above.
Cookies & Analytics
We do not use third-party advertising cookies, ad networks, or cross-site tracking, and we do not show ads. The only data stored on your device is your browser's own first-party local/session storage described above (game settings and keeping you signed in), which is needed for the Services to function. We measure aggregate, anonymous usage — such as visit and play counts — with first-party counters on our own servers, not third-party tracking cookies. You can clear this data at any time in your browser settings.
Data Retention
We keep account data for as long as your account exists, and leaderboard entries and recordings for as long as the leaderboard is maintained. Usage and diagnostic data are kept only as long as needed for the purposes above. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time (see "Your Rights").
Your Rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request — including deleting your account or a leaderboard entry — contact us at the email below. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
Children's Privacy
The Services are intended for a general audience and are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
International Users
We operate from the United States and our service providers process data there. By using the Services, you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries.
Security
We protect data with measures such as encrypted (HTTPS) connections and hashed passwords. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above, and significant changes will be reflected here.
